Wow and blimey

A year ago 4/3/2023 I was surprised and so pleased to have clinched a win at the Blackdown Hills ( Skills of the Hills) Hedgelaying Championships. This year how ever I drew one of the worst length’s I’ve had for years in a competition, massive amounts of willow to clear out of the ditch before even getting to the hedges, most open class competitors were boots deep in water on both sides of the hedges ditches. Due to my draw I didn’t bother with a before or after picture it didn’t seem worth it. You can see the work needed along with the height of the bank. Come the results a couple of waited and chatted quietly at the back, then for them to be called for forth place, then to hear my name for 3 rd place. Have to say as much of a surprise as last years win, after what I had to work with. Congratulations to all, there was some great work done in difficult circumstances. Thank you to all at BHHA another great day. Working pictures all credit to @timruss1951 #hedgelayingphotographer
