Something a little warmer and dryer

Just something a little different , warmer and dryer….As we move into our winter season and the first “storm” comes through and we’re #soggyhedgelayer again thought Id pop some warmer pictures together. Prevention of windblown sand along the beaches and dunes of Essaouira in Morocco. In the past this has been our destination for holidays The work seems to have happened from about 2016 where masses of branches and brash were laid out on top to protect the dunes from being blown, either away, into the town or like long shore drift. Along with that a massive dead hedge was built stretching way out into the distance along the ridgeline of the dunes. Our last trip in 22 we took a quad ride along the beach, there was still signs of the hedge 10km later all along the dune edges. Taking the full brunt of any Atlantic storms it clearly took a battering between some of our visits. Either being partly wash away or possibly blown away. But some of it still serving its purpose of protecting the dunes. In some places there are troughs approximately 9-10 foot deep right next to the hedge line, and in other spots a gentle slope leading up to the hedge sitting right on top of a dunes. Couldn’t resist just doing a little bit, so I can say I’ve done some hedging in Morocco #essaouira #morocco #deadhedging #sanddunes #protectionofthedunes #longshoredrift #dunemanagement #conserveduneecosystem #naturalcoastaldefences #warmerhedging #essaouirabeach #essaouiramogador #essaouirahedge #palletsigns
