Dorset Hedgelayer Est 1999

Russell Woodham is a contract Hedgelayer based in South West Dorset in the UK.

He has been a member of The National Hedgelaying Society since 1999 and held NHLS Accreditation since 2007 and committee member since 2013

His work is stewardship approved and a many times competition winner,  Since 2013 the Dorset style has been recognised at the National Championships, Russell has won the Dorset Class in 2014 & 2016 and was 2nd in 2013, 15 & 17.

In 2015  and 16 he was very pleased to be asked to attend the prestigious Patron Contest at Highgrove House and to meet HRH Prince Charles.  Believed to be the first “Dorset Hedgelayer” to be askedimg_3443 to this invite only contest. In 2017 it was at Sandringham and aimed to encourage new, novice and up and coming youngsters  to attend. It was very pleasing to have the Dorset style shown at  Sandringham, and  being the tutor  and guide through the Dorset section for HRH.

The contest season can be very mixed with a win one week and the wooden spoon the next. Its all down to the draw and of course what you can do with your section. Russell has been Melplash  Hedging Competition winner seven years running 2008-2014, & again in 2016. 2017 saw him take on judging duties, but a return to competing saw him winning Local class Open class and overall winner for 2018. Overall champion of all classes four years running 2011-2014 plus  other wins and placements  since 1999 in many other competitions across Dorset, Devon, Wiltshire, Somerset & Isle of Wight.

Since starting Russell has laid over 19.5km/12.07 miles of Dorset hedgerows. This with out including competition hedges over the years approximately another 1.5km/mile

Happy to travel even overseas  if required, but  this will be reflected in costing as we’re sure you would understand.
